They say “You can’t please all the people all the time”. It doesn’t mean we cannot try. We recognise that eating out (elsewhere) these days is littered with tales of disgruntled diners. You only get one chance to impress. We believe the modern restaurateur needs to put the diner first. At The Red Lion our restaurant offers a wide range of freshly prepared dishes. Like the wine list, it is designed to appeal to all tastes and budgets. The investment in the kitchen reflects the desire to provide food that is fresh, sensibly priced, innovative and enjoyable in a relaxed environment.
Lunchtime
We offer a range of 15-20 dishes all the year round including freshly baked baguettes & sandwiches, homemade soups, jacket potatoes & omelettes. Specials have included calves liver & bacon, sausage & creamy mash, Thai chicken curry & cardamom rice, ploughman’s lunch, Caesar salad, homemade pies & steaks.
Dinner
Our dinner menu changes weekly and blends tradition, innovation, local & worldwide produce with passion & care. Using the same ethos as lunchtime, the dishes offered include traditional favourites such as scallops, rib eye steak & chocolate fudge cake with more modern dishes such as a continental selection of ‘tapas’, duck breast with (our own) damson & ginger compote finishing off with lemon tart accompanied by a crème brulèe cream.
Breakfast
We typically provide a full English breakfast with local sausages, bacon, black pudding, field mushrooms, tomato, beans, traditional fried bread & eggs.
On your way to the gold cup race meeting or Silverstone? Whatever your destination, if you are passing and would like breakfast for a small group, phone us in advance.
BBQ
The garden has a large BBQ. Available for private functions or occasionally complimenting our normal menu during those long summer days.
